From September 2025, there are some key changes taking place for our Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and mentors.
All ECTs must complete a two-year statutory induction with an Appropriate Body. Please find details of our Appropriate Body here.
Parallel to their statutory induction, and as part of their ECT entitlements, all ECTs engage with a two-year package of high-quality professional development. East Manchester, in partnership with University College London, facilitate this professional development, which will have a new iteration from September..
ECTs who started the current Early Career Framework (ECF) programme in April 2024, September 2024, or January 2025, will continue and start Year Two of the programme in September 2025. This programme is based on ECF. They will start with Module Six.
ECTs who started in April 2025 and September 2025 will engage with the new iteration of the programme: the Early Career Teacher Programme (ECTP). This is based on the ITTECF, and includes more emphasis on SEND, literacy, and professional behaviours. They will start with Module One.
New Mentors will now engage with a one-year Mentor Development Programme. Current mentors will complete the ECF Mentor Programme.
