Early Career Training Programme (ECTP)

All ECTs must complete a two-year statutory induction with an Appropriate Body. Please find details of our Appropriate Body here.

Parallel to their statutory induction, and as part of their ECT entitlements, all ECTs engage with a two-year package of high-quality professional development. East Manchester Teaching School Hub, in partnership with University College London, facilitate this professional development, which will have a new iteration from September.

Early Career Training Programme

Since September 2025, ECTs have engaged with the new iteration of the ECT programme: the Early Career Training Programme (ECTP). This is based on the ITTECF, and includes more emphasis on SEND, literacy, and professional behaviours.

Mentors

New mentors will engage with UCL’s Programme for Mentors which is a one-year fully funded programme. This is a great next step for teachers still in the early stage of their career and completements the ECTP programme for ECTs.

ECT and Mentors | Pre-April 2025

If you have ECTs or mentors in your school who started the first iteration of the ECT programme – the ECF, they will need to complete this programme. Please see guides below for further information and contact us for further guidance.
